The EUROPEAN INFORMATION CENTRE – EUROPE DIRECT – WESTERN GREECE is staffed with experienced, well-trained personnel with communication skills and good knowledge of European issues, willing to help you and answer any question or query you may have about the EU.

In particular:

01.

It provides general information about the European Union, its institutions and policies. (Access to Community and national databases and free availability of printed and electronic documentation for all visitors and interested parties).

It informs and supports the participation of all stakeholders in European programmes and Community initiatives. (Printed and electronic (cd-rom, dvd-rom, videotape) library, archived in foreign-language and Greek-language titles, including the main publications of the EU’s official publications service, the Official Journal of the EU, annual reports, books, periodicals, specialised publications and other information).

It works with local, regional bodies and services to disseminate information.

04.

It facilitates and encourages dialogue and cooperation between the various actors in social and economic life at local and regional level.

05.

It facilitates the exchange of information and experience between different regions of the Union.

It organises workshops, conferences, events and information campaigns.

07.

It provides the possibility to watch, via satellite, the meetings of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the other institutions via the “Europe by Satellite” service, in any of the 24 official languages of the EU, with simultaneous translation.

08.

It specialises its actions in specific and topical issues related to EU policies and promotes printed and electronic material for the general public and the “target groups” (sending an informative Newsletter, with news and issues, which it draws from the European Commission, the European Parliament and the EU institutions, to all printed and electronic media, but also to all citizens interested in receiving the Centre’s information material: business people, individuals, farmers, pupils, students, associations, NGOs, public and private sector bodies, etc.).

It provides the European Commission with information on the dynamics of the Region where it operates and offers the public the possibility to provide feedback to the EU institutions.

10.

Participates in events and meetings of Community interest.

11.

Develops partnerships with local and regional media (print and electronic).
