How it Works

The EUROPEAN INFORMATION CENTRE – EUROPE DIRECT – WESTERN GREECE, like the other centres in the EU, is under the authority, control and accountability of the Directorate-General for Communication (DG Communication).

The Directorate-General for Communication carries out its tasks under the authority of the President and Vice-President of the European Commission and aims to inform and communicate with all stakeholders and citizens on issues of European interest. (European policies and activities).

To achieve this mission, it coordinates the activities of the European Commission Representations in each country and provides strategic guidance and support to the management of the EUROPE DIRECT network in the EU Member States.

The mission of the INFORMATION CENTRES – EUROPE DIRECT is to provide a permanent channel of communication between European citizens and the European Institutions, bodies and inter-institutional services.

For anyone wishing to find out more about the EU, or who needs general information or answers to a specific question, they can contact their nearest EUROPEAN INFORMATION CENTRE – EUROPE DIRECT.

The Centres are the “entry point” and communication point for citizens with the European Union.

The staff answer questions about the EU and immediately provide any relevant reference material, or refer interested parties to the right source of information.

The information is impartial and the approach is direct, comprehensive, neutral, thorough and pluralistic.
